Violence on the Rise: COFOA Leaders Launch Campaign and Meet With La Paz Governor to Address Issue

The homicide rate in El Salvador has doubled this year to nearly 10 deaths per day. COFOA leaders have launched a listening campaign in all the parishes of the Zacetecoluca Diocese to elicit ideas and support for real solutions to the escalating violence. A group of leaders met on April 8 with the Governor of La Paz Department, Ms. Yanira Barahona, and police officials, to secure their support. COFOA leaders are planning a May meeting with all of the Department Mayors as well as national officials to present findings and promote needed legislation and programs.
